In 2006 a group of suppliers, vendors and ranchers joined in the SUREXGAN SAS Company, businessmen from Santander and part of the Santander meat industry, decided to start the construction of a new company called Plaza De Ferias y Planta De Sacrificio El Contento SA , which over the years became the Ecological Plant for Animal Benefit Rio Frío SAS (initials: Frigorífico Río Frío SAS), a company that today retains the name and history of COLBEEF.

Although it was not easy to start and materialize the COLBEEF dream, during the month of December 2010, the construction of the Second Plant designed and built in Colombia began under the standards of Decree 1500 of 2007.

Once the stages of issuing permits and licenses had been completed, and the construction phase had been completed, the challenge to start up this new plant began, which began operating in March 2013; finding advantages and disadvantages when acquiring the 1500 plant category, since as a pioneer, it had to break new ground and take on great challenges that COLBEEF has always come forward.

Currently COLBEEF has managed to position itself at the regional and national level, covering more than 55% of the local market and actively participating in the development of the meat chain in Colombia, through active intervention in initiatives such as PROJECTS OF NATIONAL STRATEGIC INTEREST – PINES PARA CARNE BOVINA and the leadership of the EAST LIVESTOCK CLUSTER. Likewise, today it has the HACCP trajectory and certification under Decree 1500 of 2007 and obtained its endorsement and certification necessary to develop export processes to Chile, Russia, Curaçao, Venezuela, Angola, Lebanon, Libya, Jordan and Cuba.

COLBEEF’s positioning and trajectory has been thanks to the quality, flavor, tenderness and excellent condition of edible meat products and the high technology used in all processes. In addition, and thanks to its scheme of excellence in quality and service, today COLBEEF is prepared to face the new challenges of the Colombian meat sector and is beginning to assume the goals of the National government, in terms of increasing and diversifying the export supply of the Country, promoting the export of bovine meat to countries with the highest international standards.
